Eating of food is the basic requirement of human body. Every one eats to nourish the body to live a longer and healthy life. In ancient times people were living in forests and they were eating raw flesh after hunting, so they were not aware of any other taste other than the taste of raw meat.
Day by day human brain got developed after the discovery of fire. They started cooking their food and further adding different type of tastes in their routine food. Now days there are millions of dishes in the world with different type of tastes.
Basically, human body identifies the following type of tastes:

  1. Sweet
  2. Sour

The above basic tastes are now being mixed by chefs to bring different flavors in the dishes that are served.
There are different types of people in this world and they have their own taste which they like most. The liking for a taste is totally dependent upon the activeness of a particular planet in their life, as the taste is controlled by the planet concerned. The following chart explains the tastes and their respective controller planets:

Second part of the question. Is eating Non Veg food affects the planets?
Your actions (Karma) are affecting you. Planets are just doing their assigned duty to run the universe.
For exmaple: power of eye is given by sun planet, if we use eyes for watching wrong things we are not using the important instrument or power given by sun. So He will punish you.
But why sun the planet is punishing you. Is sun your enemy? No, Not at all. It is because of love for you.
A father corrects a child by giving some punishment it is just because of the love he has for the child, He will not go and punish some other child. As a father, he has a duty to up-bring the child with good character.
Doing wrong is not affect planets, it is affecting you. Planets are not you enemy they want to help you and make you a better human.
How food effect you life with relation to Planets.
Food → Mind/Thought → Body/Action → Habits → Character → Destiny.
Food cooked with anger will make you mind filled with anger and hated thoughts. your action will also be like that and repeated action will turn in habits and Habits will make your character as an anger man.
Food cooked with love will changed you character as a loving human being.
Non-veg food is cooked by killing and with no mercy feeling. The animal is murdered in cold blood. The animal has only fear in its mind when it dies and that fear reflects all over its body. Every cell of the animal murdered will be horrified by seeing the murders of its fallow animals too.
Such food will create a fearful mind and thoughts, which will lead to sinful action, it will make a human a poisonous animal.
Why a snake is most poisonous creature because snake is must fearful animal. So sad, it crawls in ground, any other creature can stamp over it. so its fearful nature created a poisonous bud in its teeth. Its not the mistake of the snake, it is required for its living.
Human required humanness. Not such animal nature of being poisonous.
Dead body has to decay - rot or decompose through the action of bacteria and fungi. If you eat such food every planets will be against your such action. Our body is a temple of God. We are making it a Garbage Box or a Burial Ground. Then all other planets will be against you and three plants will be allowed to work on you, that is Raku, Ketu and Shani.
If you eat Nonveg food by hunting the animal. You give a chance to animal to run and safe its life, it is not cold blooded. Every cell of the animal working to save its being. Such food will give you courage . So Kings and warriors were allowed to eat such food.
Food → Mind/Thought → Body/Action → Habits → Character → Destiny.
This was proved by Rishis, but now the researchers in psychology accept this cycle of Food and Destiny.
Example: A sage came to a house to eat food. the food was served in Silver plates and golden bowls. After the food sage picked up a golden bowl and hide it under his bag. He reached his Ashram and found the bowl in his possession. He was surprise that why such sin was done by my hands, how can my mind instruct my hand to do so. Mind is formed by food. What food I ate. Who cooked that food. He went back with the bowl and asked the owner to call the cook. He asked the cook what were you doing before this job. He told sir, I was a robber. The food cooked by such character can spoil your character too.
Mind is a very subtle gift of given by God to Human. It is made out of subtle food we give to body and to sense organs. (Mind receive food form eyes, skin, ear, taste buds and nose.)
It is not just a story. I myself have felt that. I am a Vedacharaya. I conduct workshop for learning Vedas at different places around the world. I went to Russia for one of such workshop. I told them, that I will cook my food myself, just get me provisions. Morning food was send by a person who was pure vegetarian and Krishna’s devotee . He was not eating even onions and garlic and used to offer first food to lord Krishna.
This is up to you, to leave nonveg and eat food cooked with good feeling.
Inflicting pain to other will bring pain only.
Some people says that I am not killing that animal. For a sin five people is responsible and all of them will get punishment accordingly.
  1. One who commits sin, next
  2. who is cause for that sin, next
  3. who motivates to do that sin, next
  4. who prepares the means, recourse and or teaches way to commit sin, and last
  5. who watch sin being committed.
for example ;In Mahabharat - Dropadi’s case.
  1. Dushaasan commited the sin, next
  2. All Five Pandavayes were cause for that sin, next
  3. Duryudhan motivated Dushaasan to do that sin, next
  4. Shakuni and Dhitrastra prepares the means, recourse and or teaches way to commit sin, and last
  5. Bhishma, guru darunacharaya, kripacharaya and karna were watching the sin being committed.
all were punished accordingly.

So, If some one is killing animal for your food. you too are involve in that sin. and you too will be punished. you are the second and third party in that sin. The shop keeper, the business partner, instrument maker are the forth party and who are watching that without any mercy on speechless creature are fifth party. That way planets will act and give you problems in life as a punishments.
